From the Vulgaria to the Tormented, the 11th annual New York Asian Film Festival hits all sorts of nerve centers. Presenting over 50 feature- and short-length films from nations such as Cambodia, China, Japan, South Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam, this edition serves up three special programs: new cinema from Taiwan, the return of Hong Kong's film industry, and the career of famed "Old Boy" actor, Choi Min-Sik. Other highlights include the Taiwanese box-office hit You Are the Apple of My Eye, Takashi Miike's Ace Attorney, Takayuki Hirao's animated horror film Gyo, sci-fi anthology Doomsday Book, and Korean crime drama Nameless Gangster. The international premiere of Yoshihiro Nakamura's delightful Potechi closes.
