While London's businesses and councils are all falling over themselves to capitalise on the influx of tourist dollars for the Olympics, few are making such a serious statement as the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The Exhibition Road Show, in the heart of SW7's museum land, is a major art, science and culture festival spread over the first nine days of the Games. As well as various dancers, games and parades, there will be live stages on trailers along the road (with music by Eliza Carthy, Patrick Wolf and Kämmer Klang) as well as three specially commissioned art works that explore meteorites, bees and radio.

Road Show says…

ROAD SHOW will bring a wealth of creativity to the capital inspired by the prestigious institutions that flank the diamond-paved concourse, from the awe-inspiring laboratories of the Science Museum to the enlightening collection at the V&A. New commissions, live events, scientific experiments and discussions will all converge to populate a 'landscape of wonder' commissioned by the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea. Everything from a pop-up ballroom to a bicycle orchestra will appear on customised trailers that materialise in various locations throughout the day, hosting performers specially selected to delight or surprise.
